How to Make a Bologna Sandwich

I bet you never knew that Katie's babysitter, Jenny, makes the BEST bologna sandwiches. Katie insisted on teaching me, and I thought you all would like a lesson too. First you spread the mayonnaise on some bread. We are using sourdough bread.
It's a lot of mayonnaise, I know, but it's how it's done.

After spreading the mayo one one side of the bread put on the cheese. You have to tear the cheese in half, and you need two slices one for each piece of bread. Only American cheese will do.

Lick your fingers if you get a little mayonnaise on them. (Yuck, GAG!!!) This is why I don't make the best bologna sandwiches, that would make me sick!

After the cheese comes the delicious bologna. Two slices, again one for each piece of bread.

Tear the bologna so that none is hanging over the sides. Eat the excess.

Put one side of the sandwich on top of the other side and "tah dah" there you have it folks, the perfect bologna sandwich.
Now you must enjoy it. But after one bite you must decide you don't really want the bread just the bologna and cheese. Then you get a lecture from your mommy about wasting food. Hungry children in another country, etc. You will nod, and say ok mommy, but you will do it again.

Done.

We finished the baby's room just in the nick of time!!! The room is one of the smallest I have ever been in, but at least the important pieces of furniture fit. Changing table, crib, and dresser. Rick will have to deal with the night time nursing in our bedroom as there is no room for my rocking chair!
We went with an airplane theme since that is Daddy's favorite. We were lucky enough to find just the right set.

Rick received these two airplanes from my Grams and we think they look cool hanging from the ceiling, although now I am looking for an American airplane, as these are not.
The room came out perfect for the little man, and all we can hope is that he truly is a boy. Otherwise we hope Katie's little sister loves airplanes!!

In One Week

In one week from today we will go from being a family of three to a family of four. Little Ricky will be here for the three of us to hold and coo over. We have waited so long for his arrival, 3 1/2 years to be exact. With his birth brings a multitude of emotions and nerves. It was almost unfathomable that Rick and I would even have another child. The years between him and Katie brought a lot of pain and heartache. We had resigned ourselves to being the parents of a wonderful only child. Katie is and always will be the greatest joy of our lives. She is so full of love and life, we are in awe that we could be given such a wonderful gift.
She isn't a baby anymore, and watching her grow is so much fun.

Today she is Mommy and Daddy's big helper. She has just figured out how to dress herself (with amazing style) and this very morning she got herself a drink of water, doing the entire thing; getting the glass, filling the cup. She can't wait for her brother to get here either. She has big plans; changing diapers, getting him dressed, bathing him, and making him laugh. She will likely steal that baby's heart as much as she has stolen her Daddy's and mine.

She may not be our little baby anymore but she will always be Daddy's best girl! Unless Little Ricky turns out to be little Amy and then she will have to share that title!

Katie's new room

A few months ago we decided that since we had to remodel the guest room to be the nursery, we should do Katie's room too.

Katie was able to pick the color (which she did very well!) and the theme. She decided on a princess room, and we did our best to make it happen. Her Grandma got her these wall stickers, and she did a great job putting them up!

She loves her new room. All we still need are the closet doors (which need to be painted) and a bedroom door. But she is thoroughly enjoying her new space. She can't wait for everyone to see it!
