This is a picture of Katie a couple of weeks ago reading during the Bishop's visit to Rock Springs. For those of you who don't know the hierarchy of the church, Father Glen is on the left. He is our parish priest. He runs our church, school, and some of the churches in the surrounding area. Bishop Ettiene is next to him on the right. He is in charge of all the churches in Wyoming. He has to be one of the most personable Bishops I have ever met. He had preformed the Confirmation of all the children in 8th grade the night before, and had agreed to say mass for us at school the next day. We didn't find out until the week of the reading and Sister Helen (one of our teachers) gave a two page reading from the Acts of the Apostles to Katie to read. You'd think she'd be nervous, and her voice would quiver reading in front of the Bishop. But it didn't. She read two pages without skipping a beat. This is what I love most about our school, and I do love a lot about our school! The children are given so many opportunities to speak publicly. They learn to overcome the nervousness at people staring at them. They read in front of crowds of 200 or more at Sunday mass. What a gift!
