Home Sweet Home

Buffalo at a Rest Stop in Evanston
An old Stagecoach stop off the beaten path WAY COOL

An Old Dwelling
Antelope (Boy do they run fast!)

Well we made it. After a long arduous move we are finally settled in Wyoming. We have been out seeing the sights, and meeting new people and we are excited for this new chapter!! So far we have been learning how to get around town and getting lost only shows us other things. There are a lot of parks here, and we are busy getting Katie to them. I took her to the library and she is a bit shy around other kids so I hope to get her into pre-school soon so she can make new friends.

We went out for Father's day yesterday and explored Little Mountain. No trip exploring would be complete without the show of wildlife including, elk, deer, antelope, and wild horses. WOW we were awestruck at the beauty. We stopped for a picnic and the trees were covered in scars from elk rubbings. Rick is ready for the hunt. Thank goodness for the new rifle!!!

After we went down the the dam at the Flaming Gorge and looked out, it was hot out so the water looked inviting. Then we went to the Flaming Gorge overlook and saw how amazing the gorge is from up high. But our adventure kept us out too late to cook dinner (OH DARN) so we ate at the Red Canyon Lodge, which I hope to stay at one summer!

We are itching for adventure and want to see it all in one gulp. But we'll have to relax and go as we go. The altitude has made us pretty tired and we hear that it should last for only about a week before we feel back to normal.

Keep watching for more adventures!! Thank you to everyone who has supported us through the move. Your encouragement made this move smoother and stress free on us. We miss everyone and can't wait for you to come visit us in our new home!!!

Weekend at Great Grandpa and Grams!

Katie and Grams

Katie sure had fun this weekend, with Great Grandpa, and Great Grams. Katie and Mommy went up for a weekend of visiting. Grams saved us some bread so we got to feed the ducks. They were sure hungry. Before the ducks came Katie and Grams warmed up by throwing rocks. Katie also showed them some of the dances she has learned from The Wiggles. They really enjoyed that. We rounded out the weekend with a trip to the doughnut shop and Katie showed Grams how she eats her favorite, it has sprinkles, and she only eats the icing!!!

Thank you Great Grandpa and Grams for such a fun filled weekend. We Love You!!

Toe Jam and the Farm

Oooohhh I found some!!

You read right I said toe jam! Katie has a new gross obsession with her toes. She loves to look for toe jam and will do so any chance she gets. I found this to be a new way to stop her from doing something I don't want her to do. "Katie do you have toe jam?" I asked her as she was running around the kitchen. She stopped in her tracks, dropped to the floor, and checked between her toes. Last night, as we were getting ready for bed, she didn't have any toe jam and asked me if she could have some. I told her we would work on it tomorrow. I wonder where I can get a spare?
We went to Hidden Villa in Los Altos last week, and boy did we have fun. Grammie's pre-k went and invited us. Katie got to try organic veggies, we were able to eat them straight from the garden, and pet lots of farm animals. She liked the chickens best! When we saw the pigs she was so excited. The mommy pig had 10 piglets, and they were "SOOO UTE" as Katie called them in a high squeaky voice. The smell was not nearly as cute and brought back farm memories for me and Grammie. I didn't know pigs smelled the same wherever you see them. We pet a lamb, who was only a couple of days old. The goats were pregnant, and the babies were kicking like crazy, that was COOL!!! After the goats Katie saw three horses with riders. She yelled out "DUUUUKKKKEEEE" and ran toward them to pet. Luckily she was next to me so I could stop her, she sure loves horses!!!
The Rabbit hole into the Garden

I think she is trying some flower petals!

The Mama Pig and her Piglets

On an exciting news front, Katie has given up her Yaya's (Pacifiers). She had the nose one until two weeks ago when the thing finally got a hole in it. The others got "lost" and the pink one held on. She had me wipe it to make it soft for her nose, but I couldn't get it soft enough and the tantrums were a lot intense. I was so glad to see that thing go. I don't even know if I got a picture of her with it, but you know what I will never let her see it until I can be sure it won't make a come back. So sorry for the loss.

I hope this finds everyone enjoying the sunshine!!!

Wyoming

The Wyoming State Flag
Rick and I with the T-Rex
Aunt Carrie and I out on the Prarie
Wild Horses
A Dinosaur Looking Rock
Our New Home?????
Well Rick just got back from his interview today and we are keeping our fingers and toes crossed that he will get something. We are pretty excited about moving! We saw everything on our first visit and we fell in love with the place. It is windy, lots of snow, and the town is a little sad looking, but the people are nice, the home prices are affordable for the wages, and the recreation is amazing.

There is a long period of time when the weather is not conducive to being outside, but they have a recreation center that puts all the centers I have ever been to here in Ca to shame. There is an indoor swimming pool, a full, and I mean FULL gym with every imaginable machine, 4 indoor basketball courts, 8 handball/racketball courts, a walking track on the upper level of the basketball courts, and the most amazing thing; an ice rink. The cost is only $55 per month. That includes full use of the place, any classes including swim lessons and ice skating or hockey lessons.

Then we went to the Jr college to see the dinosaur exhibits and even though you can't see me take a look at the huge T-Rex behind me.

My Uncle and Aunt took us out on the prairie and showed us the sights including the place they hunt. Rick was hooked.

If Rick gets the job then we will be moving in with my Aunt and Uncle until we can buy something. They have a lot of extra room and have assured us we are not imposing. I am sure they will let us know when we are!!! At least I hope so. We are sure going to miss all the family and friends we are leaving but we are excited for the prospect of starting our lives the way we want to live it.

Weekend with Duke

A Kiss from Duke
This weekend Katie and Daddy went up to the ranch for the first time without Mommy. I enjoyed my first weekend home alone, or almost. My cousin Nicole joined me for some much needed girl time. She has 7 children at the moment (4 are hers, and 3 are foster children) so she needed the time off more than me.
Rick and Katie got to spend the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa and Duke. She did great. She walked up the hill and fed Duke carrots and apples. Katie isn't ready to sit on him yet though. She was also able to play in the rain, jump in puddles, and be spoiled by her grandparents. Grandma got to spend some good time with her, which will help as this weekend Rick and I are off to Wyoming to see if that is where we want to move. Katie sure wouldn't lack for horses there!!! Although the real Duke won't be there. This will be a tough decision as it means we will be leaving family and friends, but it will give us better schools for Katie, the opportunity to buy a home, and who knows maybe a chance to start that business Rick wants!!!
I hope this post finds everyone well, and I hope to hear from everyone soon!

Exhausted!!!

Well the kids and I joined a mommy and baby exercise class. Basically it is aerobics, with the kids playing around you, and you play games with them while running. I can't move my arms much which makes writing this easy as I don't have to move them. If anyone who reads this has kids TAKE THIS CLASS, that is if you like to sweat! I'm glad I got to go today as Rick, Katie and I pigged out for the superbowl. Sorry for all you Patriots fans, but I was glad to see the Giants win. Anyway I better go take my exhausted butt and go sit on the couch. I don't think a class has ever been that hard. WHEW!!
